History of Central View
from Heritage of White County:
Central View School opened during the 1951-1952 school term when four schools: Center Point, Shady Grove, Gum Spring, and Mt. Riverette consolidated. Later Quebeck and Walling schools moved to Central View and about 1966 Hensley's Chapel moved as well. Burl Johnson was the first principal and the other teachers were Mrs. Vera Fisher, Mrs. Elizabeth Greene, and Mrs. Dola Cooper.
from newspaper article dated October 13:
George Knowles, of the Shady Grove Community, was elected chairman of the group to visit the other community organizations and discuss the plans for consolidation. All schools were within an 8 mile radius of the new school site. Elbert Humphrey, a school board member at the time, suggested the name Central View because of its location.
Today Central View is the smallest school in White County, with only 1 teacher per grade. However the technology within the school is state of the art with each classroom utilizing interactive white boards.
